Is there a delete option?
« on: January 24, 2010, 23:56:17 »
If it's there I don't see it. Need the application to automatically show the duplicates and mark the lower rate/ smaller file versions for deletion so it's easy to delete the files in a single operation. User can override the auto selections.

So there's no real advantage to using similarity over just deleting straight from itunes?

I have 14000 songs. You mean to tell me that I need to manually remove each one? I may as well use itunes.

What a bunch of crap.

Found ~200 duplicates and was able to use multiple select and delete to clean them up in 5 minutes. An automated filter for selecting based upon the time or presence of () characters would be helpful for a future version, but for the small number of dup's I found, the tool was very helpful as is - thanks!

Use shift or ctrl with mouse selection or use context menu in results tab (right click) and mark files.

I would also like to see this option. I ran the program for a couple of hours today and it has found over 12,000 duplicates. Being able to select all the indented filenames would be an excellent addition for me. I wouldn't care if it took an hour or more to loop though them all to select them if thats what it took. I just can't face finding all the duplicates in 200,000+ files it would take me forever or kill me. I've been using Similarity for at least a year now but I've only really be able to use it a 'stress test' for my PC. After deleting a thousand or so it gets a bit tedious and I give up.

I don't understand what do you mean by "indented filenames" ? Can you explain more detailed.

When I "mark" a file (either by using the right-click menu or by using the space bar), there is no indication (e.g., check mark, highlighted line, etc.) telling me which files I have marked. Am I missing something?

Thanks for a great program - been looking for something like this for a long time.

The results show a file (in bold) followed by another or a few that are not bold but indented.

File 1
    File 1 Copy
    File 2 Copy

I'd love to be able to select all the indented files eg File 1 Copy, File 2 Copy.

Sorry if I'm not explaining this very well. Its not that my english is bad, its just because I'm stupid.

OK, I understand, it's not hard to implement, but it practically no so usefull (in groups bases - bold, not everytime best files), you can use automark feature, it mark worst files, we think about you request.
